A great comment from Clayton Self: you are correct, the show with Michelle and BLT walking and you see the street intersection of DeGrassi and Pape cannot exist, because the two streets are parallel. They are never perpendicular.

Hi everyone. I just joined this list and I love Degrassi . I started
watching it in grade 7 and I am 24 now and I still watch it everyday. I
saw the Jonovision reunion show and I thought it was great. My brother
says that Wheels works at one of the MoneyMarts here in Hamilton. He is
going to see if it is true or not.

See Ya,

My very favourite Degrassi moment is when a few of the guys are playing
basketball: Snake, BLT, Shane and a few others (i think it's in the episode
when Snake's brother visits in that funny little car). Shane has his t-shirt
pulling over the back of his neck so he is wearing it like a little
cardigan. As a 9 year old I thought that was the absolute height of hip
fashion!

this is in reply to bobby millions remark about the comment that they should
be wearing hockey jerseys because degrassi is a 'canadian' show. can you say
'stereotype'?

*Mark* Degrassi was supposed to be Universal in its themes but it still had Canadian icons and some indirect cues that it was filmed in Toronto...They were so slight...like the students wore Roots sweatshirts...This was typical, because I remember in Grade 6 wearing Roots Sweatshirts or Beaver Canoe...Very Canadian.
Stereotypes are NOT always a bad thing...They must stop getting a bad reputation.
Sometimes they are true, sometimes not.

"Hello Degrassi" (remember Joey, wearing his tacky tuxedo shirt, before his band
played their one hit wonder after he found out earlier in the day that he didn't
graduate) ... I mean, Degrassi fans! I think it's very important for all of us
to dig, deep down inside, in order for all the Degrassi sites, but most
important, this mailing list, to keep the content new and exciting. I'm tired
of beating the same old topics to death! We need fresh new ideas to keep
everyone interested, and more people joining. It might me fun to have someone
designated as a teacher, Mark let's say, where we are asked to participate in
fun and exiting projects. One could be ... write a script for a show that was
never aired, but use the available characters and the resources that were
available to them and see what type of story line you could come up with ... who
knows, someone important might read it and offer you a career in writing the
story line for shows! People could then add, from digest to digest, their own
comments and ideas to make it that much better. Schools in Toronto, or maybe
around the would, might then get students involved, etc.. How about writing
Degrassi poems, songs, or participate in trivia that we could all test ourselves
with and see who got the most answers correct in the following digest
................. just a thought! Anyway, post your comments in the next
digest, or offer some new and exciting ideas for making the digest a whole lot
better!

Something to think about .....

- "Claude" was part of "People for Peace", but later was found in pieces, or
parts.
- how did "Clutch" get his name, I think his car was automatic.
- "Wheels", and the tragedies in life were caused by cars, but not "Clutch".
- if "Simon" was supposed to be an actor, or was it a model, why was he so bad
in "Lucy's" movie ... It Creeps! ... actually, Snake was worse than him, but
funny though!

Dr. Degrassi

*Mark* good idea! I am up for participating in some new and creative topics

I read about Pat in the beginning of the book and it said some reasons why

I was wondering if any one knew who seduced Pat's girlfriend and if so could

What exactly is the degrassi digest? I think I when I went to Jr. High
School they had it there for us to read, but I am not certain?

A suggestion that I would like to see is for the crowd of Degrassi to get
back together and do a movie somewhat like the on they did for School's Out,
just so viewers could see how they all have changed and where the characters
are at now in life.

Wow.... I've watched Degrassi J.H as a JH. student and the H.S. series as
a H.S. student here in the U.S.. I really loved the show and was really
deeply saddened by it's termination from PBS before having ended properly.
I think the last episode I saw before it was taken from the air was the
episode where Joey was put in a "Special Class" for the challenged And was
sparking a hopefully rekindled realtionship with Cait. It was pretty hard
to have just seen it gone without knowing how the series was ended. It's
wasn't really as popular here as it was in other areas it was sindicated
(obviously,due to it's random scheduling on channel-13 ) but I really felt
an emotional tie to every episode,as I'm sure everyone who watched it did.
But I had no idea that there were still people today that still love the
show as much as when it was first aired!
I think that it's really great that the fans are still alive. I hear that
the series is back in Canadian T.V.. I'm really happy to hear that,
although I'm also dissappointed that it can have that same opportunity to
be shown here in the states.
I've been hearing rumors that Kevin Smith (writer-director extraordinaire)
has plans with Degrassi's future in some way? is that true?
It really must be an exciting time to be a fan of this remarkable show.

I read on one of these posts that you had contacts to Stacie Mystysyn.
Is this true? I would love to show my appreciation to her through a letter
or e-mail or some other form of media. Although I'm sure that she's gotten
more than enough of them already, I'd still love to let my appreciation be
shown as a person from the States.

"Mark replied: I have sent you a personal letter with all the necessary
ways of trying to find her. I wish you the best of luck. Please act
accordingly when you try to cotact her, as there is nothing more
scarier
than fans who act too obsessive. Please be patient and as
non-threatening as you can when you try to contact her. Good luck!

Great job with this Digest. Now that I'm aware of it's existance, I'm sure
this will be a site in my bookmarks.

One day I was walking home and I saw a poster up on the side of an old warehouse that read: I love Degrassi for Degrassi loves me.This poster sparked my many interests in the series, which unfortunately had been off the air for years. But because of the great marketing schemes of CBC, they started rebroadcasting the show and I get to see it everyday from 4-5, and frankly, I haven't left the house since.

I love Arthur because he is over weight and so am I so I can relate to him in a mutual way. I also think Yick is cool and if I was a chick I would ask him on a date, but I'm not so I'll have to settle with the twins, Heather and Erica. I love you guys so much and without the aid of your show show I would never be the person that I am today.

Hi, I've seen all 70 DJH/DH episodes on CBC, but I realize that I've missed a fair amount of the actual footage since CBC only airs 22 out of every 30 minute episode. I noticed a couple of oddities in the show, and I think it could be explained by the footage I have never seen. For example, when looking at

http://www.math.technion.ac.il/~nashtir/degrassi/aux/clip-eps.html

I see a picture of Caitlin and Claude from the DH episode "Breaking up is hard to do" that I don't see on TV.

My questions are:

1. Does anything happen between Snake and Melanie during the transition from DJH and DH? They go to the graduation dance in "Bye bye Junior High" but I don't see any scenes of the two of them in any DH episodes.

2. In "Bye bye Junior High", Kathleen expresses her frustration to Melanie about how she doesn't have a date for the dance. We see her later in the episode being escorted by Arthur. Did Arthur ask her or did she ask Arthur, or neither?

Thanks!

*Mark* Not that we know of....Snake and Melanie mysteriously lose touch and never speak again....Maybe someone can write a Degrassi World Fan Fiction episode about the missing link between them.
PBS Versions (Foreign) and CBC versions (Canadian) are different...CBC is cut to commercials whereas PBS versions are not...However, PBS versions are edited to suit the PBS community..so no swear words and Erica's abortion scene where she walks up the clinic are cut...However, what about when Heather has nightmares about Erica walking up the Abortion Clinic, are those nightmare scenes cut, I wonder.

i recently "won" a video tape with a couple of episodes of Degrassi Jr/High

estatic when i popped it into my VCR and find some of the best episodes! i
miss it so, but i am gratefull to Mark and everyone for keeping the dream
alive! lol.

ok so anyway, fer the past 2 days straight i have been watching, and there is
a term which i heard several time...people calling each other "broomheads"!
that kills me! is that a popular "term of endearment" up in canada!?!?!?

oh, and let me throw out another quote, if i may, from D-JR, melanie is
talking to kathleen about how her expectations of jr high are letting her
down: "i thought there be lots of parties...not political parties, but real
parties...with music....and boys....and patato chips!" HAHAHA! "political"
parties! how's she bring that one up! i love melanie! she showed me light,
without her, i would have gone to all these parties, maybe even political
ones, and they wouldn't have potato chips, and i would have gone home
thinking it was a real party! silly me!!

ok, one more question, and i swear i'll end..(degrassi make me giddy!)
okok...in D-JR, who is that in the wheelchair? it doenst look like maya....?

What I learned from Degrassi characters .....

1. always have an abundant supply of Coca-Cola when having friends over.
2. instead of showing off with new clothes and fancy cars when winning the
lottery, wave some licorice around.
3. if you wanna be cool, but have to ride a bike, make sure it looks like a
"Chopper" (small front wheel).

(Arthur)
1. you don't have to wear a beret to look like a nerd, but it helps!
2. only sissies dry their cars with chamois (pronounced "CHAM-EES').
3. when asking girls out on dates, catch them off guard by annoyingly asking "If
not tonight, how about tomorrow" ... "OK, next week".
