Where is degrassi on PBS? i've never seen it on there. here in winnipeg, i only get degrassi on showcase. i think that it is dumb that they would choose to take out a clip from degrassi that is in the opening credits, they should have taken out another scene and maybe i would have forgotten about it. does anybody else notice the announcements made, espically in junior high? i love the on that says "due to lack of interest the pep rally has been cancelled."

*Mark* Actually Degrassi was broadcast on CBC and PBS for the five years that the series was on the air. Since Degrassi was jointly produced by WGBH Boston's Kate Taylor and Playing With Time's Linda Shuyler, the series had more exposure because an American Television station co-produced the show as well as a Canadian film company. Degrassi is not on PBS anymore, and has not been on that network for many years. ^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^

Hey..I was wondering, Did any of the cast of Degrassi date each other in real life, if so who?? Did the Characters get to wear there real clothes on the show, or did they only wear the characters clothes?? Rachel (I'm very curious)
*Mark* I was reading somewhere a while ago that (Joey) Pat Mastroianni and (Caitlin) Stacie Mistysyn dated for a short period, but nothing came out of it. I read that they were more comfortable as friends. I think that some of the characters wore their own clothes, but I think some of the clothes were costumes, because I read that Anais Granofsky (Lucy) commenting that she did not like her character style of clothing as it was too funky. She had to dress in those clothes for her character. So in some cases some of their clothes were their own, and sometimes they had to add to their attire, in order to transform them into their character on Degrassi.

I too am really disappointed in the ABC's decision not to re-purchase the series. Perhaps it would be worth our while lobbying other stations (such as the commercial stations or even SBS) to purchase the series. What does everyone think?

*Mark* What is SBS? Do you mean PBS?(Public Broadcasting Network) I think that maybe they only had rights to the show for a certain period of time, and since that time has expired, the network has chosen not to renew their contract. Perhaps they do not want to re-purchase rights to it, because they cannot sell air time to advertisers, because no advertisers want to buy commercial time from a series that is ten years old. Lobbying can be a good idea but which station on the ABC network? ABC gives the episodes to the stations, so I think writing to the network (which administers the stations) would be better than lobbying at all the individual stations. Anyone have any comments, please post!

*Mark* Thanks for your Survey responses! I think Alexa and Simon and Alex and Tessa were the cheesiest couples. I think Caitlin and Joey and Lucy and Bronco were meant for each other. I think the twins dressed horribly, but remember that the series was filmed from 1986-1991. My all time favourite characters were Melanie, L.D., Kathleen, Caitlin, and Joey. They were cool, and had a lot of dimension.

*Mark* I thought Kathleen and Scott were a cute couple at first, but when you find out how possessive, mean, and abusive he is, he doesn't seem to be nice guy afterall. *Mark* Degrassi Junior High was filmed in a vacant junior school called Vincent Junior Massey. The school was vacant because there was a low registration in that area, so it was financially unwise to start a school there with few students. Playing With Time rented it for three seasons of Degrassi Junior High. It is located in Etobicoke,Ontario, 68 Daisy Street in the Mimico District of Etobicoke, Ontario, West of Toronto, Ontario. Degrassi High was filmed in one of the campuses of Centennial College, which can be located in East York, in the Toronto area. The street corner which the school is on Morden at Pape. The school had been closed for renovations for Playing With Time had requested to rent its space for one year to film one season of Degrassi High. It turned out to be two seasons, and of course the series ended. Most of the outdoor scenes are filmed around the neighbourhood called the Beaches, which is on Queen Street east, and on Degrassi street. Degrassi Street was 1-2 hours away from the building that Degrassi Junior High was filmed, but it appeared that it was just around the corner. However, the neighbourhoos areas were filmed around Degrassi Street and on Queen Street on East end Toronto and the school scenes were filmed in Etobicoke. The characters homes in the series were probably not their homes in real life. Most of the homes were around Degrassi Street and around that neighbourhood. I do not think that the Degrassi actors would use their real life homes in the show. It is possible, but I am not sure. Thanks for your post.

I missed the first 20 minutes of "School's Out!" but I taped the rest. I only have one VCR so taping it for someone would be impossible, sorry. Just wanted to rub it in a little bit! ;-) I was mad at Snake when he inadvertently told Caitlin what that evil Joey Jeremiah had done. I cried at the end when Joey and Caitlin were dancing together... It was a truly touching moment. I laughed... I cried... I bit my nails... The whole thing was an emotional roller coaster ride for me, more intense than the half hour episodes could ever deliver. Up and down and up and down... It was better than sex! Sorry I was all wrapped up in the moment there, here are my answers to the survey.

*Mark* I completely agree with you. I did not like Claude Tanner, I thought his character was a fake, and he was all image. I also think that Joey's mantra was "Trust Me", as he said that in most of the episodes. He always managed to add it in somewhere. I absolutely hated Stephanie Kaye and her clothing. I do not care if you did make a mistake. Showtime or Showcase, I still do not get Degrassi in the States. Was watching it on Trio, off my DSS, but they ran out of episodes. To top it off they did not even show "School's Out" Alright, I am done complaining. :^)
*Mark* Is it possible to get a De-Scrambler or an Antenna that can pick up Canadian signals so you can get Canadian Networks and Canadian Stations? Just a suggestion....
