1: Happy Holidays to everyone on the Digest and Happy New Year.

Our next issue will be in 2000!

I will not be updating the website and I will not be checking my email from the Dec 24th-Jan 9th.  I will be in New York City for the millennium and Montreal from Jan 2-9.  I will respond to you as soon as I get back.

2: I attended The Degrassi Reunion Show on Jonovision.  There were many cast members and it was a crazy, crowded experience.  The show will probably air on Dec 23 and Dec 24.

Check http://tv.cbc.ca/jono/ for details

Jonovision Comments and Posts will be in the next Digest (in January)

3: I have been getting nasty people who have signed the Degrassi Guestbook.  If you seen inappropriate material, please report it to me so I can delete their entries. Thank you :-)

Happy New Year and Happy Holidays.

Hi guys,

We run an Internet Station at http://www.fave.ca which features an

entertainment show called Fave TV.  We've done a behind the scenes look

at the CBC show Jonovision on Dec. 10, and we will be putting it on our website after the Jonovision episode airs Dec 23 and Dec 24.

We focused on success, and we did not feature gossip or gushing.

Check it out!

Cheers

Heather Vale

Fave Productions

*Mark* Anyone who went to the show can post their comments to the Digest in the next issue..when the show will be aired on CBC.  We want everyone to get a chance to see the show so they can all post their comments.

A friend once told me that Kevin Smith (director;clerks, dogma, mallrats,

chasing amy) owns, or is part owner of the US rights of the degrassi series.

He must have gotten hooked (like we all did) when was in Vancover taking

film school.

I sort of believe this to be true, but would like some one to confirm this

fact.

I think, Smokin' Mel, that you should name your boat the " Swamp Sex Row

Boat". The song that's playing when Joey and Wheels crusie into the High

School parking lot is, if I'm not mistaken, " FLY BY NIGHT " by RUSH. What

about the voice of Geddy Lee? How does he get so high? I wonder if he speaks

like an ordinary guy. Somebody on the last post mentioned that a reunion

show with Degrassi charcters would be a hit. I agree. I've been thinking

about this dramatic T.V. series that decides to run for only one season in a

flagrant attempt at heightening its dramatic intensity. In the show, Joey

and Wheels will play roommates who eventually become lovers and Rick the

Temp of Muchmusic infamy, will play a rapist. He wouldn't be like the

recurring rapist character though because that's just bad marketing, but he

would make a guest appearance on a particular rape oriented episode wherein

he rapes one of Joey and Wheels' mutual friends. Possibly played by Stacie

Mistysin! Can you imagine how uncomfortable it would be to watch that. I

think it would work though, based on shock factor alone.

Shane:(about to take acid for first time) You eat paper?

Luke: (veteran acid taker) Hey, if you can't eat

I thought some people might appreciate this, seeing

that the bulk of Mark's paper was on 90210 and "Saved

by the Bell," but NBC recently ended the 296-episode

running series last Saturday.

Although it can't hold a torch to degrassi, "Saved By

the Bell" was just one of those really cheesy shows

that, while I was in high school, you just watched

(but never admitted to watching) and you could pick

out almost every episode (especially the one where

Jessie od's on caffiene pills ... they were trying so

hard to be serious and not to make me crack up).

So, anyway, just a little tribute that I thought you

would enjoy.

Subject: Degrassi Day!!

Date: Sat, 04 Dec 1999 01:20:45 AST

Ok, this is my first time posting anything, and i'd just like to say that

I'm almost positive i'm one of the biggest degrassi fans east of montreal..I

go to Bluefield High School in PEI and recently we were looking for ideas

for a spirit day, all of my friends and I had been watching Degrassi since

they started airing them on CBC again (god bless) I assumed that my close

group of friends were the only hardcore watchers of DGH, but under my breath

at the meeting I said to my friend laura who sat beside me, we should have a

"Degrassi Day", people were like "what did you say?" "We should have a

Degrassi High Day, we can all dress up like our favorite characters and I

can make up Trivia questions and we'll have a trivia game on the stage at

lunch.." the rest is history, two weeks later everyone came to school decked

out in the degrassi duds..it was so hilarious.  Many people told me i was a

"Perfect Joey Jeremiah" and there were numerous people dressed as Wheels, he

was a favorite, the big glasses and denim jacket.  We even had a few Tabi's,

but my personal favorites were my two best friends john and jared, john was

dressed as Dwayne, he had an old sports jacket that looked EXACTLY like the

degrassi styly, and a sticker on the back that read something like "don't

touch me, i carry the hiv virus." and Jared was hilarious, he was a perfect

claude, doc marten boots, tights, suspenders and a shirt that read "no nukes

is good nukes", the trivia was a success aswell. I suggest to anyone that is

still in High School to demand a Degrassi day at your school, I know i'll

never forget that day as long as I live.......also, what's the name of that

series that was on a few years ago on CBC, it had the guy that played Joey

Jeramiah, and he was living in some apartment, and i recall a broken plant

holder, someone help me out..

Melanie:  Kathleen You are such a prude

Melanie: I'm a wench

even later..

I also wanted to say that I have the .wav file for when Joey walks through the caf. naked.  "joey...joey...joey (cheering) MR JEREMIAH, will you come with me please"... classic

I was thinking about this today also.... What if Caitlin and Joey had gotten married....and then Raditch saw them..and said "MRS JEREMIAH.yadda yadda yadda"..  funny stuff to think about...

I was recently watching the Degrassi High movie School's Out, and noticed

that in the beginning when Joey is picking out a ring for Caitlin, and the

kids are graduating, that Wheels isn't at graduation, he's out buying a car.

Is this just a time lapse thing, like earlier in the day or something,

because Joey would have gone to the graduation wouldn't he? Just curious.

Krissy

*Mark* This is was a technique called Parallel editing or Cross Editing, I took a film technique course in 1992 in CEGEP so I can explain what the director is trying to do.

This scene is showing what Joey, Wheels, and the graduating class are all doing at the same time.  Joey has one more year of high school, so he is out buying a ring for Caitlin.  Caitlin graduated one year early because she took extra courses, and Wheels seems to have failed out of school.

Sincerely,

John

*Mark* Check out all of the site in the Degrassi Webring.

Subject: I need some old Canadian Television Kids Programs

To: webmaster@degrassi.ca

Hello. I have been trying for some time now to get in contact with someone

in Canada concerning a kids' series of the 1980s. I know your page is

devoted to Degrassi, but I thought you might be able to help me. Did you

ever tape any Canadian kids' series off of TV? I would like to trade

(trade dubs, not originals) with someone who has the 13 episodes of

Whatever Turns You On. These were 1979-80 episodes of You Can't Do That On

Television which were rerun regularly from the late 80s-mid 90s in YTV's

rerun cycle of You Can't Do That On Television episodes. Unfortunately for

me, these weren't in the US rerun cycle. If you have these taped, please

let me trade you something for dubs of them. I have all of the 1981-90 You

Can't Do That On Television episodes taped. I have 3 live episodes of You

Can't Do That On Television that aired one time without an aircheck.

If you have the eps of Whatever Turns You On, please trade with me. If you do not have them, do you know of someone

in Canada (80's YTV viewing range) who might? Please write soon and thanks

for your help!

I was just wondering if you had any info (I

couldn't find it if ya did) about the Skanking

Pickle Song about Spike. I think It's

called, "I'm in love with a girl named spike." Or

the Propagandhi Song. The songs are awesome.

*Mark* I think they are archives at http://www.degrassi.ca/Archives/

There was a question as to whether or not you can see Simon's penis in the

shower scene for Lucy's movie. Well I can answer that ......

The other day I was watching it and I noticed that he had those flesh

coloured underwear. I kept on rewinding it just to make sure, and it was.

You have to look closely.

Monica :)

i'm a lovely and talented new subscriber, and thought that i would

just pass on an experience that i had a couple of years ago. i was

waltzing around kensington market in toronto, when hark, i stumble

into an indian clothing story, and who is behind the counter but

amanda stepto. naturally, having the degrassi lifeblood raging

through my veins, i lost it and started screaming the word "spike"

and jumping around like a giddy schoolgirl. i tried to ask her a few

questions about the show, but i could not contain my excitement, and

the beautiful ms. stepto asked me to leave. 14 rue conley in

lennoxville quebec, at bishop's university is full of raging degrassi

fans, and we don't miss an episode on the cbc at 4 and again at 4:30.

this digest just may have saved my life. thank you, thank you and

thank you.

owen d. percy- ESQ.

ps. my housemates and i are currently trying to throw together a

ripped-away version of "everybody wants something", zit-remedy style.

we'll keep you posted if we decide to record it on our next album.

I started thinking about this a couple of hours ago - I was in a subway

with the guy who played Snake.  I've seen him around a couple of times in

the last year, talked to him once.

If AJ's reading this, hi.  I'm also a Tom Green fan.  I was at the Raccoon

thing too.  I'm a friend of Aaron Adel's.  But mostly I'm into Doctor Who.

Actually, the guy that wrote Press Gang is also a Doctor Who fan.

Your Degrassi yearbook photo section doesn't have any actual yearbook

photos.  AJ and I at least must have gone to schools with some Degrassi

actors.  I know I have.  Annabelle Waugh is a friend, I'm sure she

wouldn't mind me digging up all this..  heh heh heh.

Cheers

Eric Briggs
