Subject: Degrassi...
Hi, I've been a loyal fan of the Degrassi series since it came out, and
have just started to tune into CBC to catch the replays. There was a time
where I had most of the episodes on tape and used to watch the tapes when
I was bored and there was nothing on TV. I was always a couple years
younger than the kids in the show, so it was pretty cool to watch.
It doesn't feel quite the same to watch it after all these years, I think
I've been spoiled with American Drama Series, one thing that was
interesting was when Tori Spelling of BH90210 boasted that her father's
show was the only show dealing with the issues of teenagers, WRONG!
Degrassi was out way before BH90210, but unfortunately the Americans
sometimes forget that Canadian TV exists.
Also I have all the Degrassi Books based on the Jr High characters,
although some aren't in great shape, but if anyone's interested, drop me a
line. Unfortunately I need to do a little bit of cleaning up around my
house, and won't be able to hang on to them, but I'd be happy to make a
deal with someone interested in reading them, as I've read they are hard
to find now.

The whole of this Degrassi site is excellent. I' ve just joined the mailing-list, and
I' m writing from Denmark. -The series was very popular here; I think they started
showing it over here quite early on - ' 86 or ' 87 I believe, and ending in the early
90's. They showed all seasons, including "Degrassi Between Takes" and "School' s Out" on national television. A Danish youth TV show called "Zig-Zag" even had Pat and Staci as guests in the studio for a chat. - Also, a reporter from the programme once visited the Degrassi set, interviewing several of the cast members for a special. It was really HUGE over here, and still legendary. Bye for now.

I just discovered the Degrassi website for several days and in France the last episode "the last dance" was shown in french TV 3 years ago, may be 4 years. So, I don't know what happened since the serie was over. Was there a new serie after this or a TV movie ? I would like to know (there isn't a french fan club in France).
Reading the pages of Degrassi website, I learnt the existence of "School's out". What is that ? The continuation of Degassi High or a new TV show with no connection with this one ?
Finally, I want to say that in the french version, the first name and sometimes the name of the characters was changed. In this way, Michelle Aseth is called Michelle Axell, Voula is Olga, Heather is Estelle, Wheels'name in Degrassi Junior High is Wilson (changed in Wheeler in Degrassi High), Caitlin is Caroline, Kathleen is Catherine, ... For the fanatics like me, these details seem important.

Stephanie left after the second season. Her brother Arthur came back to school all cultured.
Apparently the family had won the lottery and Stephanie was going to private school (where I'm
sure bright pink tube tops were not in the dress code). As for the suicide rumour there was one
episode in which she contemplated suicide. You may have seen Stephanie appear on television
the same season she was gone from Degrassi. I would think she left to pursue a bigger audience
and instead got none. I saw her in a short-lived sitcom filmed in Toronto about a single ex-
wrestler dad (who was an ex-wrestler, forgot his name now) and his two kids. The show was horrible
and lasted about 2 weeks while Degrassi went on many more years and still lives on in infamy.

Just wanted to comment on two items in the current Degrassi Digest:
(1) The Kids of Degrassi Street Clubhouse was located in the backyard
of the original Playing With Time office on Queen Street
(2) Robert Mistysyn was not a producer of any of the Degrassi shows.
He did the credits on some of the later ones - he was
freelancing at the time as an animation cameraperson.

First off I want to say that I am a huge fan of Degrassi and I have been for years. It's great to
see that CBC has brought the greatest Canadian television series ever back on the air at 4:00pm
and 4:30pm weekdays. Anyway, the question that I have for you is: Do you know the e-mail address
of the actor that played Mr.Raditch, Dan Woods? You see, the reason I want his e-mail address is
because I used to attend monthly WWF wrestling events at Maple Leaf Gardens In Toronto. Every
time I would go there to see wrestling, the WWF would use a local ring announcer. Well, I'm
pretty convinced that this ring announcer was indeed Dan Woods, a.k.a. Mr.Raditch. I just want
to know if I'm right about Dan Woods being a local WWF ring announcer.
