Subject:Degrassi Episodes in New York
Does anyone know if Degrassi episodes are being shown on television in New York?
*Mark* I will find out for you and get back to you as soon as I can. In Canada we have a network called Showcase which shows Degrassi in English for one solid hour, half hour of Degrassi Junior High, and a half hour of Degrassi High. Someone had mentioned in the previous Digest that the film, School's Out was shown on Showcase. it is too bad I missed it. it is one of the only things I have not taped from the Degrassi series.

We are two avid fans of Degrassi and have seen every episode of both Degrassi Junior High and Degrassi High. However... we did not know about the School's Out episode. We are quite upset about this. :( Do you know where we can get a copy of this episode? How long is it and how long after the final episode was it made? This is all news to us and we are very curious.

*Mark* Well the film School's Out was recently shown on Showcase, and will likely be shown again, since The Degrassi series has been syndicated to Showcase and other networks. The Showcase network shows DJH from 7-7:30pm, and DH from 7:30-8pm. I will contact the person in charge of Showcase to find out information on when the film will be shown again. If anyone has the film on tape, please e-mail me and I will exchange your addresses, and perhaps you can trade, or get the film.

I just moved here to Canda and I've been hooked on degrassi High, do you know where I can find the movie Schools Out???
*Mark* Well you are in luck. Showcase has started to show Degrassi since Monday, September 1st,1997. As they are all repeats (as the series ran from January 1987-June 1991), you will find each episode that you have missed. School's out, the Degrassi final film was shown a couple of weeks ago, but do not fret, because the shows repeat themselves, and the film will eventually be shown again. It is best to look at your TV guide to check local listings. In Montreal, where I live, Degrassi is shown for one full hour, Degrassi Junior High (7:00pm-7:30pm) and Degrassi High (7:30-8:00pm). As I have said in previous Digests, if anyone has the film and wants to trade or give a copy to anyone, please e-mail, and I will give both parties the proper e-mail addresses so one can access the film. as well Oren and Guy's site, The Degrassi Fan Club at http://members.tripod.com/~degrassi has a message board and a page where there are people's e-mail addresses where they request episodes for trading. Check it out.

*Mark* Thank you Ange for your information, now all American Degrassi Subscribers now know that ABC no longer has the rights to show Degrassi. How about NBC, CBS, FOX, Nickelodeon,etc??...I wonder if there is a possibility....There are so many American networks....

Subject:The Opening to Degrassi High
In the opening to degrassi high, you see arthur at his bike and there is peanut butter on it. i remember seeing that episode a long time ago and i think it was from one of the first episodes. was that part cut out of the degrassi's that the show now because my friends and i have not seen that part lately. I loved the Amadues episode, too bad they cut that part out.

*Mark* I loved the episode "Nothing to Fear" when LD fears her father will die, when he is admitted to the hospital. It is too bad that CBC took the part when Melanie was frightened when the school snake, Amadeus accidently left its cage and was lost in the school. That part was totally cut out of Showcase and CBC because the fact that both networks have lengthy commercials, so it is best to always watch Degrassi on PBS, where there are never any commercials.
As for as Arthur removing peanut butter from his bicycle, this was cut out of CBC and Showtime, because it was not viewed as an important aspect of the particular episode. I wonder if the network has the authority to do this because the show is syndicated, or if Playing With Time sells the shows edited. I think it is the network who cuts out scenes to place commercials in between. I will find out.

Luckily my girlfriend speaks and writes Spanish, so she wrote him back asking him if he wanted to subscribe to the Digest. This will be interesting if the Digest's content contains some Spanish.
