Here is some info on Blue Dog Pict, the band Keith White (Tim) is in: The band is currently on hiatus, because Keram Malicki-Sanchez (Johnny from "Catwalk") has formed a new band called Ribcage, which is based in California. I've heard (but don't quote me on it) that Keram will be coming back to T.O. in December, and I hope that means Blue Dog Pict will play again, because they are an AMAZING band. I have all their CD's and cassettes, and I've seen them play live twice. They put on terrific shows, and Keith White is an amazing bassist.

I was watching "Traders" on CBC this week, and I swear an actress on the show is the same woman whom use to play the role of Michelle on Degrassi. I sent a similar e-mail to Sharon@Degrassi.org., but have not yet received a response. Did anyone else see this actress? She looked a little different, but had the same facial expressions. Unfortunately, the car she got into at the end of the show exploded. So I doubt we will see her again. Please, someone tell me if this was her. Thanks.

Russ
*Mark* I am sorry but I do not watch Traders. I know Maureen McKay is a lawyer, and married. If anyone knows if she is acting, please post :-)

Hi Mark,

Sorry for the delay in answering you,... I only work on a part time basis and just got your e-mails this morning. I was unfortunately mistaken about where information on your website had appeared. A colleague of mine brought in the article and I assumed it was from The Montreal Gazette, but it was actually from The Suburban. I think she still has the article and I could provide you with the date and page number it appeared in later this afternoon, when she comes in, if you'd like to know. I was actually sending you a file containing the flyer on our auction and not a scan of the actual Degrassi poster we will be auctioning off. The auctio is taking place on October 28th . Preview and hors d'?uvres are at 6 :30pm and our many items including well-known art, trips, entertainment packages and objects, as well as the Degrassi poster will be auctioned off at 7 :45pm. Tickets are $25 and have been going very quickly. We'd be happy to see you at our auction so please feel free to contact me if you need any additional information.

Thank you,
Helen Katalifos

This is concerning the question about whether or not PBS ran "School's Out." It did, at least as of two years ago (I ended up seeing it on WNET 13 in New York in the middle of the afternoon on a Tuesday). It was broadcast as a "Wonderworks Movie Special" or something like that, and was slightly edited. I think that the word "Fucked" was deleted from Caitlin's famous line about Joey and Tessa, and I think there might have been one more edit, but I can't remember what it was. Other than that, it was great because it was shown without commercial ... a full two hours. only, I wish that I had taped it.

Tom Panarese
*Mark* Thank you for correcting me, that would be correct, that PBS would edit out the foul language. It is too bad, because School's Out depicted the kids of older, more raw, mature, wiser...The swearing made it seem more realistic, unlike the DJH/DH, which was super innocent with respect to language.

My favourite thing about the Degrassi series is that the kids had messed up lives. Few people were rich and everybody was average looking, there were no real studs or beauties. It wasn't typical prime-time teenage problems either. Like on Full House or Family Matters where a "crisis" was a cancelled prom date or bad haircut. Even the most popular kids had insecurities. I respect how Snake never had a serious girlfriend until University. In real life not everybody has a boyfriend or girlfriend all the time.
*Mark* This was one of the keys to success, being realistic, and not American, like Full House and Family Matters, but universal. It is rare that Degrassi ever mentions being Canadian. I think it was understood by everyone who watched, whereas American Television programs are ethnocentric.

I really liked the way Degrassi made Snake a life guard. To many it seems it is an ideal way to meet girls, but in real life it is not like that. As a life guard myself I am yet to save the life of a beautiful drowning female, who was so thank-ful that she insisted that we go out. Unlike someother American show that totally screws up anything to do with life guarding. I guess that is why Degrassi was so big, it showed us real life people in real life cituations. I congratulate them on that.

I have heard rumors that Fox, at one time, wanted to buy the rights to Degrassi from Playing with Time. The deal never went through because Kit Hood(?) the shows director did not like the fact that they would change some characters. I have also heard that they even flew Joey (Pat M.) to California and wined and dined him. Did the collapse of this possible deal upset any of the actors/actresses, especially Pat M., after the success of Fox's combat to Degrassi, Beverly Hills 90210, took off and gained some much popularity and money?

"Snake, you have to get dressed!" "Mom, I am not going..." It's the summer before Snake goes into grade 7 and a terrible tragedy has occured in his life. His favourite, and only remaining, Grandfather has passed away. Snake remembers all the summers he spent with him up at his camp and can't imagine not going this summer, let alone ever again. He can't face going to the funeral, it's just too much. His Mom has laid out his sombre outfit for him, some new school pants a shirt and a tie. How can he ever wear these pants to junior high after they have been stained with the memories of a funeral? He's definitely not going... Snake makes a fuss and his parents leave for the funeral with his older brother as Snake sits infront of the TV, they aren't going to force the issue, but Snake's mom phones his close friends Wheels and Joey to come and spend time with him while they are gone to the service, they don't want to leave him alone. Wheels and Joey arrive about 5 minutes after Snake's parents leave. Snake is crying, they have never seen their friend show any such emotion before. They understand because they know how close Snake was to his Grandpa, they know how many summers they have spent without Snake because he's been off at camp. They have even spent time with Snake and his Grandpa and they liked and respected him too. The 3 boys sit and recall the great times they had together and Snake starts to feel a little bit better. The boys spend the rest of the afternoon there discussing what junior high will be like as school is only a week away! The phone rings and Snake goes to answer it, it's a telemarketer...Snake politely says, "No Thanks" and comes back to sit down with the boys. Joey asks who it was and Snake says "Someone trying to seel something...it seems everybody wants something these days..." Joey's little brain starts working overtime, "That'd be a great idea for a song!" Wheels agrees "Everybody wants something, they'll take your money and never give up..." "We are so good we should start a band eh, Snake?" Thus the classic tale of the Zit Remedy (aka The Zits) begins...
