I'm 29 years old, and I absolutely ADORE Degrassi Junior
High/High! I consider this a guilty pleasure because clearly I'm

In regards to Wheels wearing the Footscray Bulldogs' Football
jumper I'd have to say the whole of Australia did a double look
at that one! This is a mystery that I and a lot of other Degrassi
fans have commented on and wondered where they got it from and
why was he wearing it. I too would love to know the answer.

Subject: "School's Out!" video
Hi Mark. I am a recent subscriber to your wonderful site about Degrassi. That program was, and is, my most favourite TV show ever. I guess the reason why, is because I could relate so much to what they were all going through myself. Degrassi was introduced to me by a friend. I watched it for the first time at 12 years old(1986) and I was totally hooked. I live in the US and I've been to Canada once. It fascinated me so much, I can't wait to go back. I own the first three episodes of Degrassi Junior High which I purchased through mail order and have a lot of the others just from recording them off of PBS and Showtime. "School's Out!", however, has never been played on television here, I don't think. I would love a copy of it. Let me know how much you think the shipping charges might be. I will send you a blank video and the cost of it. I absolutely love your site! I found it one day surfing the web. It really is great for all of us die-hard Degrassi fans, and, I must say, Pat Mastroianni will still always be my "first Love".

Once again, I feel I have to throw my two cents in and say
that Dawson's Creek
is *not* a Degrassi rip-off. First of all, Degrassi is my
favorite show of all
time, just so you know. But I also love Dawson's Creek and I feel
it is unfair
to compare the two shows.
Sure, the critics do talk about Dawson's Creek in the
aforementioned manner,
but these are *American* critics talking about an *American*
show. Of course
they don't know anything about Degrassi, but I can't blame them.
I am lucky
enough to an American who has seen every Degrassi episode, but
most Americans
cannot be so fortunate.
Also, Dawson's Creek is nothing like Degrassi. No one has ever
said it was. I
don't think Dawson's is all about sex, more like all about
relationships. All
American 15 year olds are hung up on relationships, I know,
personal
experience :-). I wouldn't know if it is the same way in Canada.
Only one
element of Degrassi, a small one at that, was about
relationships. Besides,
Degrassi is centered around the school while Dawson's is centered
around the
city in which they live.
Of course shows like 90210 and Northwood are rip-offs of
Degrassi, but it is
unfair to include Dawson's Creek in this group, IMHO.
One last thing; as far as the episodes on Dawson's Creek
concerning the 35
year old female teacher sleeping with a 15 year old boy, this is
not as funny
and unrealistic as one might think.
Everybody assumes statutory rape in school is done by an older
male teacher to
a younger female student (Like Mr. Colby and Lucy/Susie), but
there is female
teacher/male student statutory rape, and that is a big problem in
Canada and
America.
->Dawson's Creek is the *first* show to document Statutory
rape in this very
*realistic* fashion.<- This certainly is very original and
people easily
dismiss this and that is not fair.

*Mark* I do not have the auditions for Degrassi cast, and I do
not know if it exists, but The Kids of Degrassi Street was a 26
part series from 1979 -1986 that was another series when many of
the DJH/DH cast were MUCH younger, but it was not a compilation
of their auditions, it was merely another TV series, but they
were younger.

*Mark* My site was officially launched March
1st,1998...Started July 1997...It is almost 10MB.My site is not
the biggest...David Nashtir's site has more content. I do not
know if there will be reunion, it is now 1998, and I think the
cast and crew are up to new and different things. It would be
wonderful to have Caitlin and Joey married, and have the whole
cast be reunited again.

Degrassi World #18 Diana and Luke Get Busted
[Author's note: This episode is a sequel to Little White Lies]
Everyday Diana meets Luke and Yick for a cigarette break, even
though she promised her older brother she would quit. Diana is
determined to shed her goodie two shoes image and to make Luke
her boyfriend. Melanie does like wise in order to attract Yick.
Diana and Melanie reinvent themselves to look and act tough.
Inspired by the Outsiders book, they model themselves after
greaser chicks. Which includes speaking with profanity and
wearing street gang clothes. Soon Diana and Melanie develop a
reputation at Degrassi. They are frequently seen scribbling
graffiti on the bathroom walls or brazenly making out with Luke
and Yick in the hallways. They even pick on the nerdy girls like
Dorothy and Tessa. It was like getting revenge for the times they
were victimized. However notoriety came with a price. Their
grades slipped, they both got fired from the resource center, and
they lose the respect of their friends Kathleen, Maya and
Caitlin. To celebrate their one month anniversary, Luke and Diana
decide to sneak out of their houses and have a midnight picnic in
the park. It is incredibly romantic evening with a full moon and
crickets softly chirping in the background. Time seems to freeze.
They talk all night and share a whole bottle of champagne.
Unfortunately the cheap-grade alcohol makes them pass out. They
woke up to be discovered by the police. They were reported as
runaways. The next day at school rumours flew that Luke and Diana
had slept together, which was untrue. Diana's brother accused
Luke of kidnapping Diana and had a restraining order placed on
him. Diana had never been sadder in her life. Her bother and
mother thought she was a tramp and her boyfriend was off limits.
That night she finished the book the Outsiders. A certain passage
stuck in her head: "nothing golden ever lasts". It made
Diana realize that it was time to stop living vicariously through
her book. THE END
