The one star I am positive about is Neil Hope, who played the character of Derek Wheeler (a.k.a. Wheels). I now know for an almost certain fact that he left the show after the series finale to become one of the most popular male pornstars of the 90's: Jon Dough. .....The similarities between the Degrassi actors and their pornstar counterparts are too great to ignore. I am sharing my Degrassi conspiracy theory with you, Mark, because I feel you can expose this shocking revelation to the world by means of your web page. People must know that their favorite teen idols: Wheels, Shane, and who knows how many others, have a hidden darker side, a side that must be exposed in hopes of a greater good. As for the actresses of Degrassi, I am keeping my eyes peeled and am constantly scanning porn 24/7. I have a feeling Stephanie Kaye may show up one of these days with an alias and a list of porn credits to her name. We can only hope.......Sincerely,

Nice attempt at being cool, and is basicaly funny to anyone who doesnt know stuff about porn. The actor Jon Dough has been around for at least since around 1989 I think.. because there are basically only a few male stars that work in porn regularly.. Jon Dough, Joey Silvera, Ron Jeremy.. Tt boy, Tom Byron.. etc.. so they are in lots of movies Jon Dough doesnt look anything like Wheels for one. Ive got pictures to prove it.. and as for the Shane in porn, just take a look at the eatons commercial he was in a few months ago.. doesnt look like hes in LA doing porn.. and looking good enough to star in porn!

*Mark* I think this guy was only seeking attention. He has a lot of free time on his hands if he is scanning porn 24 hours a day, 7 days a week....

Has anyone stopped to wonder about the episodes "Bad Blood 1 and 2"?? By the sound of it, Darrin Brown and Pat Mastroianni worked very hard to present these episodes. Working 12 hour days for 2 weeks to give the correct emotions - these were the first 2 episodes of Degrassi to move me emotionally - I think the episodes were brilliant, and really showed the ability of the two actors involved. Darrin and Pat put everything they had into these episodes, and I congratulate them for it, especially Darrin! To get the emotions required for that of a newly acquired HIV patient is just incredible! I wish to congratulate Darrin. (on the Degrassi page you said some of the blood was real - are you joking?) It was the first episode of Degrassi to leave me totally empty, as though it had ended, though it hadn't - yet!! Just thought I'd drop a thought.
Chris. (Australia)
*Mark* My cousin seems to think that Degrassi did not have good acting. I would tend to disagree, most of the episodes had excellent acting, that was true, realistic, and raw. (Not polished like costly American programs)

Hi Mark and Everyone,
Thought I'd comment (belatedly) on Ange's thoughtful post of 6 July 1998. Like Ange, I also went to school in Australia (government schools in my case) and like Ange, I can certainly see some parallels between Degrassi and my high school experiences.
> So, yeah, I don't think Degrassi is that strange. People did go through stages of not liking each other 'completely' - as my friends and I did. I had great friends in high school but unfortunately, as high school went on, my friends did change. I can think of a case where I ended up not liking (almost despising) a former friend in the last two years of high school. People who were great friends in primary school drifted apart once they came to high school because the high school I went to had a wider area from which it enrolled students. This is similar, in a way, to Degrassi High in which students who went to Degrassi Junior High mixed with the older students of Degrassi High (I think Lucy and Clutch is a case in point, as with Spike and Patrick (The Irish guy who played the guitar).
> But basically there was a big bunch of us who were friends - actually, out of the 150 of us in year twelve, there were maybe four major groups but we all interacted and hung out with each other so much, it didn't really matter.
In my case there would have been at least 10 groups in the 80 or so students of my final year of high school and there wasn't much interaction. On a final point, the friendship between Yick and Arthur is something one could easily relate to. Once Arthur "changed" (i.e. became rich), he suddenly became distant from Yick (albeit unintentionally). However, I thought it was great that towards the ends of the series, they seemed to become friends again after their prank on Mr Raditch's house.
Just my two cents worth,
Barry
*Mark* I thought that Degrassi was NOT like my high school. There were cliques, but it seemed the students are Degrassi were generally nice to one another. That was not indicative of my high school years. I could definitely agree that Arthur and Yick growing apart was a very realistic portrayal of friendship. As much of I dislike School's Out, I found it the most realistic. Degrassi was full of cliches and that was good, because it was realistic cliches, but it did not give the full picture of how mean and cruel people can be in high school.

Critics hail Dawson's Creek as being the best coming-of-age series ever. WRONG! Degrassi is. Dawson's Creek is supposed to be revolutionary because it depicts teenagers in a daring, realistic manner. However, they are only copying the stuff that Degrassi addressed 6-8 years ago.
*Mark* I just saw Dawson's Creek two nights ago...Funny!!! A 35 year old woman (Teacher) sleeping with a 15 year old boy student..Very unrealistic...and isn't the whole show about sex? I think Dawson's Creek was more like Northwood...a soap opera about teens...Degrassi did not havethat soap opera feel to it...

Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone remebers an episode where Wheels was wearing a blue, red and white horizontal striped jumper. That jumper was actually the football guernsey for the Footscray Football Club. An Australian Rules side from Melbourne. One has to ask - how did the wardrobe department get hold of it? *puzzled* Does 'Wheels' have links to Australia.
Bye!
Jenelle
*Mark* I only remember the VERY TIGHT blue jeans...As Amy or Allison said "Wheels' jeans are so tight, you can read a date on a dime."

First of all I want to say that the post from that guy in Texas, Tony or whatever his name was, was super duper hilarious. I do not condone porn in any way, shape or form, but now I am almost on the verge of going out and renting some in search of degrassi characters. And, as if we didn't know that Wheels would some day turn out to be a porn star. It's written all over him. He was pro during that make out scene with the Twin.
Speaking of which, I can never tell the twins apart. This is now my life long goal. I have been watching degrassi for many many years and have never bothered to try. But now, it's seems that I HAVE to know how to tell them apart. Can anyone give me any clues, aside from in some seasons their hair was different lengths???!!!??!?!?! By the way, what's with them and polka dots???
Now on to the Northwood thing. I did not watch Northwood, although when it first came out, I tried, but to no avail. You see, I think that Northwood TRIED to be too raw and in your face. Thus ruining the effect it was trying to create. Degrassi, on the other hand, I think was just written to discuss issues in our (the youth of the world) lives. I don't think the writers were really concerned about doing controversial shows. Whereas Northwood on the other hand was aiming blatantly for controversial. Which then in turn made it look like cheesy Canadian Television. Since everyone seems to be making comparisons amongst televisions shows about youth, I just wanted to see how many degrassi fans ever watched Catwalk???
Andrea
*Mark* I think Tony was just trying to get some attention, and he had A LOT of free time of his hands to make some stuff up. I saw Bill Parrott on an EATON's commercial, and he still looks like an innocent guy, like the boy next door. As for the twins, as AJ elloquently puts it on his website, Maureen (Heather) has stained teeth, while Angela (Angela) does not. Maureen (Heather) has rounder eyes, and Angela (Erica) had shorter hair in Seasons 2, &3. She also had wider eyes....and a her eyes twinkled when she smiled.. Never saw Catwalk...I did see Nikita and spotted Anais Granofsky (Lucy), and I saw Ready or Not and spotted Keith White (Tim). As for polka dots, Degrassi was filmed in the lat 80's, early 90's, and polka dots were in. My sister, who is 22, used to dress like them when she was a teenager in the 1980's.

Hey Mark, you should start charging 15 cents an issue for your Degrassi Digest because that is how much it cost on the show. I wonder what Caitlin would think of this high-tech adaptation.
*Mark* Thanks for letting me know...I will include that on my trivia page... and put your name down. Anyone can e-mail me if they want to submit trivia questions.

DEGRASSI WORLD #17: SUSIE QUESTIONS HER SEXUALITY
============================================================================
All semester Susie Rivera had been jealous of her dorm-mate Joy. Joy was a Jamaican dream: sarong skirts, exotic accent, full lips painted cherry red. She was chased by every guy at Degrassi University, yet she always refused them. Susie thought it was because she was studious, being an honour society student. Joy was nothing like the stereotypical "butch" lesbian, she acted very feminine and lived a straight lifestyle.
Joy's attraction to Susie stated out subtle. Joy would offer to brush Susie's hair and rub lotion on her feet. But there were clear implications behind her touches. At first Susie denied that she was attracted to Joy. She was raised to believe that homosexuals were sinners and freaks. Back in Degrassi Junior High Susie betrayed her friend Caitlin over a lesbian rumor. Plus how could she be gay when she had boyfriends in the past?
However Susie's curiosity overpowered her prejudice. She found herself holding Joy's hand and having crush-like feelings. Inevitably they became a couple. Susie and Joy kept their relationship a secret to the outside world. Neither of them wanted to fall prey of gay bashers. Unfortunately everybody in the dorms found out. Most of the residents were cool about it but a few homophobics banded together to have them thrown out.
At that time Susie and Joy got an apartment together. Susie told her parents that Joy was her roommate but failed to mention that they were lovers. She was afraid of being disowned. She went as far as bringing her guy friends to their house in pretense that they were dating. Joy was insulted because she was finally ready to come out of the closet. Eventually the tension led to their break up. From then on, Susie exclusively dated men. But she would always have a special place in her heart for Joy.
The End.
