Hey Degrassi Fans!
As I'm sure many of you are aware, there is no longer a Degrassi Fan
club, but now DEGRASSI 2005. Oren and I have discussed this, and I have
made an addition to the DEGRASSI 2005 site. It is called "write your
own" and the entire script will consist of various works of all of you!
Please, visit the site, and if you have any questions, e-mail me,
PrincessPaige , paige@degrassi.org , or post them on here.
Thanx,
~Paige

Hey everyone! I attended the Toronto Short Film Festival's opening night
gala yesterday (June 1) at the Music Hall Theatre. Guess who was sitting
right behind me? Nicole Stoffman who played Stephanie Kaye! My friend
and I recognized her, and as we listened to a conversation she was having
with someone beside her, we realized our suspicions were correct. It was
indeed Nicole, and she is no longer acting. She is currently doing an
internship of some kind, although I could not hear where or in what
field. I do know that she went to McGill university. She really doesn't
look all that different, but obviously older. Her hair is much shorter
now than back in the Junior High days. Anyways, that was the highlight
of my week.
*Mark* Thanks for your update!

Hi
Do you know if the individual Degrassi books are just about a specific
character or do they describe the star playing the roles in real life
too? Do you have any degrassi's stars e mail address ?

Thanks

jay
*Mark* This e-mail was part of a longer e-mail sent to me from Jay. I would like to mention to everyone that the Degrassi Books for Kids of Degrassi Street were actual transcription of the Kids of Degrassi Street episodes. For the Degrassi Junior High/Degrassi High series, the books do not reflect the show's scripts, but are actually plotlines outside of the scripts. The Degrassi Books, (for DJH and DH) do not necessarily go hand in hand with the DJH/DH episodes.
Rebecca Haines has publicly given her e-mail address. It is becky@yorku.ca

*Mark* Effie is becoming quite popular. Please feel free to mail her, and I hope the Australian fans would still post to the Digest.
If you would like, I can group the Australian posts together.

My name is Peggy Michael, and I am a grade 12 student in Australia.

I am in dire need of help!!

I am currently in the process of writing a major essay on "Growing Up", and
I wanted to use your show for the main points within my essay! The only
problem is, that being in the "Land Down Under", I have no sources for the
information from your show.

The main issues that I am researching are...

Teen Pregnancy
Peer Preesure
School Pressure
Family Pressure
Responsibility
Suicide
self-Identification
Relationships

Now, I know that you had MANY shows on these topics, but, if you could take
a few minutes out of you day and maybe give me an idea of where I could
look within your websites or files that could give me any type of
information that I can download and print off as bibliographical
information for my essay. I feel that your show is one of the best
resources for "Growing Up" information, that to look any further than
"Playing With Time" would be a waste of time.

PLEASE, IF YOU CAN....

HELP!!!

Thank-you for your time and patients on this issue

You can write to me at my e-mail address at

ala@sydney.net

Thank-you once again!!

-Peggy Michael
*Mark* I have mailed this person some information, but if anyone wants to help, please mail him privately. Please tell this person that you got their e-mail address from the Degrassi Mailing List (a.k.a. The Degrassi Digest)

Dear Mark,
I saw a link on one of the Degrassi pages to a Degrassi chat. I have checked it out numerous times, however no one else is ever chatting in there! I think that it would be interesting to chat with some of the members of the Degrassi Digest! The address is http://www.angelfire.com/de/degrassihigh/

Thank you,
Larissa Hogan

*Mark* The owner of that site, Paige, is quite busy with her new site called Degrassi 2005, write your own, but I am still sure that there are many Degrassi Fans chatting on that site. Thanks for your comments.

DEGRASSI WORLD #7: TESSA KEEPS HER BABY
[Note: In School's Out Tessa got pregnant by Joey Jeremiah and decided to have an abortion. This story rewrites the plot so that Tessa keeps her baby.]
After two weeks of contemplation, Tessa decided to keep her baby. She felt that her child deserved to live even if it meant being raised by a single parent. Spike did it, and at a much younger age, why couldn't she? Tessa thought it would be fun to have a baby: it would be like playing with a Cabbage Patch doll. A baby would give her life meaning. Her friends threw her a baby shower and her parents converted the den onto a beautiful nursery (the theme was Disney characters). However they encouraged her to stay away from Joey as he was an irresponsible dead-beat. At first Joey was angry at Tessa, he wanted her to give the baby up for adoption. He cringed at the idea of baby-sitting and paying child support. And he wasn't about to marry her, he still had ten year to fifteen years of "playing the field" before he'd settle down. In fact, he didn't even love Tessa. It was a one night stand and nothing more. If he were to marry anybody it would be Caitlin, even if she did hate his guts. For six months Tessa and Joey avoided contact. Then one day they bumped into each other at Degrassi Grocery. Tessa looked and acted positively radiant as a mother-to-be. Joey couldn't help but follow her around the store. He realized that the creature growing inside Tessa was his own flesh and blood. He told Tessa that he wanted to become friends again and that he wanted visitation rights for his future son or daughter. Tessa flatly refused him, saying that he can't just walk back into her life after six months of neglect. And that he would be a poor role model for the child. "I can see it all now" Tessa began, "You will act all love dovey when the child is first born, but after the novelty dies down you'll get tired of the work and frustration. Am I realy supposed to believe that the king of slack-offs is willing to endure the hard times? When my son is crying from a fever?" "You said son" Joey gasped, "Then you know that it is a boy!" But Tessa was through talking to him. They wouldn't meet again until after the baby was born. On March 25, after three hours of labor, Tessa gave birth to the most beautiful baby on Earth: Christian Taylor Campanelli. Christian weighed eight pounds and two ounces. The next two months were very exciting for Tessa. She enjoyed all the sacred, intimate pleasures of motherhood: bathing, breast feeding, and rocking him to sleep. Joey called Tessa everyday but she hung up on him. Sick of rejection, he came over unannounced. Tessa was not happy to see Joey but she couldn't refuse him the right to hold his son. Joey was instantly charmed by the child. He kissed and cradled Christian. Even if he was a jerk, it was obvious that Joey deserved the chance to be a part of Christian's life. So they debated for hours and came up with a visitation agreement. Joey could visit Christian once a month provided that he pay child support. It worked out great for both of them. Tessa's parents and Joey's parent became really good friends. It was as if Christian had a second set of grandparent's. Although Joey and Tessa were no longer romantically tied, they raised Christian as a collaborative effort. This agreement lasted until Christian was three years old. At that point Tessa married another man and asked that Joey step back from Christian's life. She wanted a fresh start with her new husband. Plus she wanted Joey to concentrate on his own relationships. Tessa and Joey remained good friends through the years. She was even present at the hospital the day that Joey and his wife Caitlin had their own baby. But that is another story. THE END.
