News:
Here are some web sites with articles about the new Degrassi series
that should be useful for you.
I would recommend checking out the virtual tour of the Degrassi set.
It is a good photo gallery...
The new Degrassi set was formally the old Riverdale set.
I went to Epitome Pictures and I saw the Riverdale set and it was
cool.
Some differences with the new show...
1)Professional actors
2)Studio not "on location"
3)Shot on video, not film (most probably)
4) not directed by Kit Hood

Hi Mark,
First of all, I say hi to every Degrassi fan in Canada from France.
I ask myself for the name of Tessa for a few days. I see in every
website that
her name is Campinelli. I don't remember in which episode we can know
her name.
Could you answer me please ? I think the french traduction don't tell
her real
name.

Subject: Degrassi Copied me!!!
Date: Thu, 07 Jun 2001 18:59:28 -0400
Mark,
I know this is an old topic, but I'm finally doing something about
the 'simmilarities' between the new series and my fan fiction- I
think the final straw was the press conference w/ the new actors
who 'had never watched the show cos they were too young' (I watched
it from when I was 6 on, damnit!!) and the fact that one of the new
characters is named Paige.. BOOOO! They're friggin mocking me!!!!!
Anyways, my parents are hiring a lawyer (if nessessary) so I'm trying
to find as much evidence as I can- I have that nice "Degrassi World
#10" and the one I wrote, but they don't have the published date, so
if you have some archive w/ the date on it, that'd be cool... Also-
remember the conversations you, Natalie and I had about who (between
us) got the rights to making fan fiction about Emma? Any remains of
that left??
aA well... I need to try and get the old site's info from Oren, but I
have NO contacts for him-- do you happen to have any?
If you have anything that could be a help, let me know :) (e-mails..
screen shots.. dates..) I'll keep you updated!
I **reallly** appreciate your help, Mark!
~Paige : )
*Mark* The fact that there is a character named Paige on the new show
is a compliment...why be upset...They must have read your stories,
perhaps copied the theme, as the main theme of their show is Emma as
the main character and we know you and Natalie were the ones who
started fan fiction as Emma as the main character. I would take it
as a lesson...The stories were not copyright protected and they can
steal whatever they want to...
Check out past stories at http://www.degrassidigest.org/dw/
When it comes down to it, they are a big company and we have limited
power and money....I am sorry but there is nothing I can do...It does
suck when big company's steal fan fiction to make their own show
without even thanking you...and of course taking all of the credit....

Hi Mark...got some news to share....pls post in the Degrassi
Digest....thx!
Set your VCR's everyone.....
JONOVISION - Tuesday, July 3rd Season 5 Opener - on CBC
The Season Five Premiere, Jonovision's World Television Appeal
Telethon. Special appearance by Degrassi's Pat Mastroianni "Joey" and
Stefan Brogren "Snake".
Since the reunion show these 2 seem to come back to Jonovision
periodically to do little skits and things......or so I've noticed.
Not only that, but I came across a website that has a small report
(and picture) from August 2000 about Neil Hope "Wheels". This
website also has a bunch of pictures from behind the scenes of the
Jonovision Degrassi reunion show (and I know some of you missed
it)....
Check it out at: http://www.fave.ca/FaveTV.htm

I am creating a website for my Information Technology 11 course.
I was wondering if I could please use pictures from your Degrassi
website on
my page. I have already put a link to your site on mine, so if you
could
please let me know if it would be okay, that would be great.

Mark,
Will the show be airing in the States. If so, what network?
*Mark* probably not yet, but it will be picked up by another network,
not PBS, because CTV in Canada does not do business with
PBS....probably TRIO or Showtime or Nickolodeon.

Hey Mark!
I hope you had fun in Israel!
Before I go into my opinion, I can't believe that my question about
Wheel's
virgintiy, has sparked so much discussion! I'm so happy, cause I love
degrassi talk!
Anyway, to my opinion......
I agree totally with Scott Clowry's analogy, of school's out.
When I first heard that I was going to get a chance to watch it, I was
really excited. Thoughin no way was the movie, disapoiting, it's just
that, the writers were going too Hollywood inmy opinion.
Perhaps they thought that to get an audience to watch 'School's OUt'
they needed to add some spice to the plot. But they have forgotten
that we fans, love Degrassi for it's feel good storylines. True, that
soemtimes, there were storylines that weren't all peaches and cream
but in the end everything worked out for the best. (Spike was happy!)
But to see them Masacre our beloved charactors was practcally
unbearable!
Poor Wheels, he'dalways been down on luck in his life, and true he did
make some poor choices, but wasn't it time for him to get a break?
Poor
Snake, he seemed even worse off then when he found Claude's body.
Everything
was going good for our buddy Snake, but in the movie, he was going
downhill.
And Lucy... I could go on! What is the moral of this story? Most of
your
close friends will get screwed over in life, after high school? Just
who did succeed? Caitlin got screwed over by Joey, Tessa got pregnant,
etc. Now I know this is just my personal opinion, and I hope I haven't
offended anyone, but this is just what t'd
me off after watching the movie! Seriously, were the writers trying to
get back at the people who had canceld the show? I hope when Degrasi
returns, that Lucy has her eye sight back, cause that was the mot
heartbreaking
development of all!

Or
is it initially going to be shown in Canada only???

USA...This is only speculation.
I can send you copies for free off the television. It will be on

Claude Tanner. Just the name gives me goosebumps. O.k, sure, he's
dead, but
is this any reason to ignore his legacy? The man was a giant in small

nor
shall ever be. And sure, he shot himself in the head in a bathroom
stall,
but people, I ask you nay... I implore you, give this man his

hell
did Lucy ever do? Get Voula exiled from her homeland?? Ruin a
perfectly
healthy friendship between Clutch and Paul while at the same time
breaking
poor Bronco's heart?! Now I love Wheels as much as the next guy, in
fact,
more than the next guy, but Claude Tanner deserves to be revered as
the
humble, if somewhat overzealous, man-god that he was. I worship him.

Hey Mark,
I checked out degrassi.tv and I noticed something had happened that I
was
afraid would. It seems as though the new faces of degrassi are all
"americanized". There was no frizzy hair, zits, or bad clothes as
much as I
could see. *sigh* I guess I was hoping for the authentic degrassi
feel when
I heard that there was going to be a new show, but those days are
done. On
CTV, it's a whole different ball game. It's dissapointing..but I know
I'll
still watch.

*Mark* Journalists have written that the show will NOT be like a soap
opera and it will be like the old Degrassi series.
I would disagree...I think the show will be like Riverdale, a soap
opera with kids...We shall see...I am looking forward to seeing the
show.

Mark, first of all, enjoy your trip to Israel.
Secondly,
In response to Scott's email on Snake, I believe it
was a reasonable assertion on the writer's part to
make Snake act in such a way. He'd always been a
clumsy one around Melanie, Spike, and Michelle, etc.
It wasnt a stretch at all to make Snake's character a
